Measuring Yards For Fence

Posted by Jennifer Smith on

How To Measure Yards For Fencing

You're ready to buy deer fence; but you don't know the amount of deer fence rolls you need for your yard. Here is an easy way to determine how much fence materials you need to do it yourself.

It's best to use a tape measure to help determine the size of your yard; but if you don't have one on-hand; then you can walk the perimeter of the yard [ or area you wish to fence].

Take normal walking strides and divide the number by 2 or 2.5 to get the total linear footage you need for your deer fence.

This will help you determine how many fence rolls you need. Additionally, mark spots where your fence corners will be. Then, keep in mind that your fence line posts will be every 10-15 feet apart from each other. Lastly, mark your fence ends where the fence will end at a tree, gate or house.

If you still aren't sure how to build fence using a DIY deer fence kit, consult a local fence installation contractor.
