Student Rammed By Deer During School Fire Drill

Posted by Jennifer Smith on 26th Mar 2018

During a school fire drill last week, a student was not only hit by a white-tailed deer, but was knocked unconscious. She was taken to the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery. Josie Lemley, a senior at Eagle Point High School in Eagle Point, Oregon says that she doesn't even remember seeing the deer.

"I think I got hit in the face with a hoof," Lemley said. "Well we were having a fire drill during school hours, I made it halfway out there and next thing I know I was on the ground. I never saw any deer."

Schools in areas with high deer traffic or other wildlife need to consider a deer management plan and fencing.
