Test For Lyme Disease

Posted by Jennifer Smith on 15th Jun 2018

Inevitably, individuals freak out after being bit by a tick; but if infection from a tick occurs, there are ways to test whether or not a person has Lyme Disease.

So, how do doctors treat Lyme Disease patients?

Individuals should request to take a tick test soon after the bite. The most common test for Lyme Disease detection is the ELISA Test which also tests HIV patients as well as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Syphilis, Rotavirus and the Zika Virus.

This test is most effective on patients with early stage Lyme Disease. If traces of Lyme is found in the body, patients can receive antibiotics that will need to be orally taken for three weeks - a lesser duration has been examined; but patients tend to relapse.
