Deer Resistant Plants
Although more expensive than annuals, perennial flowers are a great choice for growers to increase the attractiveness of gardens.
Perennial plants are not only vibrant in color, but garden centers and garden nurseries carry a wide selection of perennials early in the summer. Homeowners will be able to plant perennials including:
- Virginia Bluebells
- Blanket Flower
- Perennial Sage
- Black-Eyed Susan
What flowers are deer resistant?
Some perennials, including daffodils, can be used as a deer barrier. Perennial plants appeal to home growers for their fragrance, but not by deer. In addition to lavender and mint, deer resist the urge to eat Columbine plants, rosemary and sage. Asparagus lovers will be glad to hear that deer hate the taste and will walk away from this green vegetable. These types of perennials can be planted in the summer to protect flowerbeds.
Keep perennials in-mind when designing your landscape; and celebrate the joy of growing perennials in June. #PerennialGardeningMonth
