Plants To Grow This Fall For Deer Resistance

Posted by Jennifer Smith on

Deer damage is the number one complaint among gardeners and farmers; and with over 30 million white-tailed deer roaming in the United States, growers can't be too cautious when it comes to garden protection. As gardeners, they look for plants that can grow for deer resistance. These are pungent plants that deer hate smelling and tasting. They are best suited around a deer fence as a secondary layer of protection for deer management.

Some flowers and herbs can grow in the fall season. These deer-resistant plants include:

  • Black-eye Susan
  • Becky Shasta Daisy
  • Bradford Pear
  • Joe Pyd Weed
  • Beebalm
  • Sage
  • Poppy
  • Indigo
  • Bleeding Heart
  • Coneflower

These plants are low maintenance and require low to moderate water levels and partial to full sunlight. They are intended to keep away deer from gardens including rabbits and other small critters.
