When Tick Season Begins

Posted by Jennifer Smith on

While ticks do not "go away" in winter, they become dormant and hide underneath leaves in fire logs for insulation. March is typically the start of tick season as more individuals spend time outside enjoying the refreshing warm air. Between now and summer is when tick bites occur most frequently putting people, pets and wildlife at risk of Lyme Disease and other tick-borne infections.

White-tailed deer are the number one carriers of ticks in the United States; and if homeowners wish to reduce the risk of ticks in yards, then they need to be proactive about getting rid of deer. Installing a deer fence is the best measure for keeping deer out of yards for tick prevention; and will reduce the risk of Lyme Disease by 98 percent!
